A New Season

Finals finished and so is my time at Ventura College. The last two years have been an adventure and a great season in my life so far. I have met amazing brothers and sisters in christ who have challenged, prayed and built me up to make me a better me. Starting Club Hope at Ventura College was something I never saw coming and never could have imagined it becoming what it has. I love seeing how God has called me to leadership and now as I move on, I get to see others stepping up to leadership. Ventura College better watch out because there is a group of students rising up to spread the glory of God's kingdom. Students are recognizing that they are not the only christian on campus but that believers are coming together on campus to fellowship, worship and pray all in the name of Jesus. I love this and it has been my life for the last two years. Though it is hard to let this go, I know God has taught me alot and now he has me taking another step of faith as I keep walking with him.
Thailand.....God likes to push my box and do the unthinkable, like send me to country where only 1% of the population is christian and I dont know a thing about the culture. Yet I'm drawn to the mystery and adventure that God has instore for me. Servant Partners is a nonprofit missionary organization that works with the urban poor creating churches where there are none and growing leaders from the existing community. This trip is part of their internship program and I will be mentored by their amazing staff. I'm  so excited to meet people that God will put in my life and the things that he will teach me. As I leave to live in a slum of bangkok, to share with my neighbors my life and love for Jesus. I will be learning thai, relational evangalism, how to affect the community and grow leaders from that community to lead the church. During the summer, until I leave in september, I will be raising money to live in and work in Thailand for ten months. I need to raise $14,000. I know that God has everything planned out and knows who this money is coming from. I firmly believe that missionary work is a team effort, where although one goes out into the field it takes many people to support that one person while out in the field. I need your prayer and financial support in order to b sent out. Celebrating 1 Year

A couple weeks ago I decided that I wanted to celebrate my remission by doing a Light the Night Walk. The Light the Night Walk is an fundraising event by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society that raises money for the research of cures for blood cancers. The walk is only 1 mile (yay). This weekend my husband and I went to our very first Light the Night Walk. I went into this event already knowing that I would cry at some point but not knowing that I would want to cry at every point... mostly tears of joy. When my husband and I got to the event we checked in at registration and walked over to the tent to get our lanterns. At this event each participant is given a lantern with a specific color. Red lanterns are for family and supporters. Gold Lanterns are in recognition of those we have lost to the fight. And a white lantern if you are a survivor or current fighter. Life in Remission: Year One

A year ago today, I walked into my Oncologist's office for my last chemotherapy appointment. I still can't believe that it's been a year. No more chemo drugs, fatigue, pain, brain fog, or a picc line. That stuff is in the past. My current desire is to forget all those things and move on! But there are lessons in those moments of pain that need to be remembered. That's partially the reason for this blog, to write down the things I wish to forget but know that I need to remember. (October 2017) I choose this day to be my cancerversary because the day my doctor announced I was officially in remission was about a month and a half later. It was very anti-climactic, I didn't ring the bell or anything like that. (Ringing a large bell is often a celebration of the end of chemo in some oncologist offices.) So I choose my last chemo day because that was exciting to me, it meant no more feeling like crap and finally allowing my body to feel better. No more roller coaster

Aahaan....(Food)

I cant help but take a second to talk about the food that I have been eating here in Thailand. Let me start off by saying that no the spider isn't food...at least I think it isn't. But I hope you do enjoy the picture of it, I get to see this spider up close and personal as it has decided to move into my house...Yay!!! Anyways from the moment I got here I have been trying interesting new foods and having a history of not liking spicy food it has been interesting for me to try to stay away from the many spicy foods that cook on the streets of Bangkok. So far about 99.9 % of the food I have eaten is street vendor food and I wouldn't have it any other way. Many people back in the states told me either to eat the street food or to stay far from it. In the community that I live in (samaki) there isn't a grocery store nearby (unless you count 7/11, which are everywhere and you can get bread and other things there) and its alot cheaper to by from vendors.
